when we were approached about throwing a sixtieth birthday party for none other than my wonderful mother in law, my initial thought was: "how can we make this not just another hawaiian shin dig?" i wanted something special. something original yet classic. the birthday girl and family go to kona every year for the month of october, so this theme was very near and dear to her heart. the pressure was on :)
em and i started doing our research and i think what we pulled together was perfect! festivities included: POG- vodka drinks, hand painted photo booth, native hawaiian leis delivered the day before the party, two hula dancers, a fire thrower, hula lessons (we all still need a little work), real hawaiian food, and, of course, hula pie!
it was a gorgeous night for a gorgeous woman.
