em and i were feeling rather ambitious this fourth of july when we decided to make a flag cake... two of them actually. little did we know that wine and intricate cake layers do not really mix. what started out as a good idea slowly, very slowly, began to melt... just like the sides of our cakes. we have learned a few lessons making multi-layered cakes. one of them being: NO WINE. another: cold frosting is bad news--it completely crumbled the thin layers of our cakes.
all in all it was really fun and tasted delishy... but hey, not everything is a win. ;)
