Zooey is one of the sweetest, happiest babes in all of Orange County so when we were asked to put together her first birthday party we were pretty much stoked. With an adorable name like Zooey, we quickly decided it needed to be a fun, bright, Zootopia Soiree! Zooey's mom did not want a super girly, sparkle explosion and wanted the party geared toward adults since there were only a few children attending which resulted in a very fun, non traditional first birthday celebration! So we've been MIA for a while and here's the reason why: I got married! Trevor and I decided before we were even engaged that we wanted to get married in Lake Tahoe. I grew up spending my summers there and it quickly became one of Trev's favorite places as well. So, we booked our venue, West Shore Cafe and Inn, and got to work with only 8 months to plan. Trevor and I (along with Emily of course and my horticulturist guru daddy) designed the entire event, yet, we decided since it was a destination wedding, that we would hire a coordinator and a florist. This was really hard for me and my control freak tendencies- ha!- but between every one involved it turned into the most magical of days. Here are a few pictures from our #breauxdown2016 on September 09, 2016. Credits: Our AMAZING photographer: Marissa Maharaj Florist: Thran's Flowers Make Up Artist: Andrea Wong Coordinator: Blue Sky Events Showering Sarah on her special day had to involve a soiree of a brunch full of palms, painted pineapples and flower adorned flamingos. I wanted to create a day to honor this amazing woman with some of her favorites, surrounded by all her many friends and close family. The brunch was filled with all the necessities: quiches, berry coffee cake, hash brown cups, fruit salad, hand-painted macarons and a build-your-own mimosa and bloody bar complete with homemade pickles. Tables were adorned with fun palm runners, painted pineapples and pink flowers. I wanted to bring in Sarah’s wedding theme so I created the fun terrarium shapes on the tables and each guest went home with a terrarium complete with a mini flamingo. We had a fun palm photo booth and a he said she said game with little tiki men. The day was filled with sun and smiles and, though hot as ever, was perfect.
When Emily and I were asked to put together a flamingo themed pool party for an eight year old fashionista we knew we had to step up our bird game. We conjured up a fantasy of floral and flamingos and BAM- the fabulous flamingle was created. We adorned each lawn flamingo with their very own flower crown bringing a fun girly vibe to the scene. We set up a floral flamingo ring toss game in the lawn near the pool as well as a photo booth strewn in gold and pink tinsel. Each guest was given a pink pool floaty and stylish glittery flamingo shades. Desserts included handmade cotton candy flavored flamingo macarons and a fabulous pink ombré Susie's cake. Since it was a pool side affair we decided to cover the gazebo with brightly colored banners and tinsel to glam up the space. Obviously we HAD to include a pineapple arrangement as well and we even found mini pineapples to scatter along the table! A birthday party isn't complete without balloons so naturally we included giant pink and white balloons floating around the property, a balloon entrance adorned with tropical flora and fauna, along with a giant flamingo balloon! The mixture of tropical and pink created such a happy girly scene and we couldn't have been more happy with the vibe created! We hope Ella had the best flamingle!!
Andy's little nugget, according to the Baby Bump app, was the size of a plum at week 12. Ever since then, the name stuck and, though we didn't know it was a girl at the time, she was from then on referred to as our little plum. A couple weeks later the cravings kicked in for our favorite mom to be, Andy. She raved about her favorite new combo- pickles and Nutella! Though we wouldn't agree to try the delicacy, we had to make our Preggo a batch of our infamous Preggo Pickles. Thus, the theme for our brunch was born: Pickles and Plums for the parents to be!
We hosted an outdoor brunch among the flowers with close friends, yummy food, and bubbles for all. We had plenty of non-alcoholic bubbles for the mommy to be and a Floral Bubbly Bar for everyone else! The ladies were adorned with hand-made flower crowns and pansies floated in their flutes of bubbles. We wanted a fun way to involve daddy-to-be so everyone got their temporary tats courtesy of Tattify on Etsy where you can design your own tattoos- so fun! Daddy is covered in rad tattoos so we thought it would be a fun way of honoring him and a fun activity that doesn't involve chocolate in diapers (yuck!). And of course the parents to be needed a little welcome present for baby Plum courtesy of Betsy Made Shop on Etsy. These custom dolls are such a fun present with a personal touch. The whole family was included- even Lily and Bogie Bear and they were a hit! We had lots of scrummy brunchy food along with our plum jelly thumbprint cookies and of course, everyone went home with a jar of our Pickles for Plum. The brunch was filled with friends, flowers, bubbles and of course pickles and plums. We are so eager to meet our Plum in January and are incredibly lucky to celebrate this amazing time in our friend’s lives. We love you little Wong family. xo- s and e Grandma and Grandpa's backyard. Mimosa and Bellini Bar. A killer GIANT cactus. Succulents. Family and friends celebrating the love of Amy and Curt. The day was destined for perfection. Working with the bride, Amy, we were able to create the perfect backyard wedding. Her colors were peach, mint, silver, and ivory. She wanted to use baby's breath along with peach roses to create her romantic effortless vibe. We used citrus leaves and baby's breath for the bridesmaids bouquets and combined hydrangea, baby's breath, succulents, and roses for the bride's. The groom had a succulent boutonnière with a small sprig of baby's breath to tie it all together while his groomsmen had small bouts of baby's breath alone. Everything from the bouquets to the bar tied together and gave the day a secret garden feel. Perfection. To continue the effortless feel we hand painted light grey wooden signs to highlight the entrance, Mimosa and Bellini bar, and favors. Everything was draped in greenery. Tucked with baby's breath. Everything had a light airy gorgeous feel. For the favors we planted mini succulents in silver tin buckets and tucked them all over the tables. We had every size mason jars filled with flowers strewn about the yard. The gazebo was draped with magnolia and baby's breath framing the bride and groom in an enchanting way. We wanted to create a magical private dining experience for Amy and Curt so we set up a sweetheart table strewn with flowers and greenery. We believe sweetheart tables are a wonderful way to have a private moment with your spouse without being excluded from the party. You are still approachable, still party of the soiree but can a have a minute to stuff your face or sneak a smooch. Perfection! This warm beautiful day was filled with flowers and love. Guests filled their tummies with vegan food, delicious cake, and bubbly Bellinis while congratulating the Mr. and Mrs.
Thank you Amy and Curt for allowing us to be a part of your special day. We are so happy for you! There really is no place like Palm Springs. Bright colors. Cactus plants of every size, shape, and color. Sun as hot as Hades. And of course: PALMS! For my birthday we returned to the same property as last year which was such as treat! Miss Em upped her game with pineapples and flamingos galore. We swapped out Sally the Swan from last year for Fiona the Flamingo (my beloved pool floaties) and had an absolute blast.
If you need some inspiration for a quick summer pool party, look no further! We have the right vibe for any summer soirée here: "The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports" Hoppy Easter to everyone and I hope your Sunday celebrations were filled with family and friends, food and spring blooms like ours was! We spent the day outside in this amazing weather surrounded by our favorites. The deviled egg torch was passed to me this year and I researched for days to find the perfect recipe. I started with this classic recipe, zinging it up with extra vinegar and mustard and used our KitchenAid Mixer to get them really fluffy. I payed around with the toppings to add color: siracha and papricka (these were a hit), capers and dill and sliced cornichon pickles. All the egg peeling and patience paid off because everyone LOVED them. I will be making them every year now. More eggs were to be had all around, of course. We all decorated eggs with a little friendly competition. I discovered a new technique in egg decorating - using a paintbrush really helps get some fun watercolor-looking designs... and even the dogs tails got involved- woops! We couldn't help it and they loved to join in on the fun. Just dip some tails in the dye when you're tired of decorating those eggs, rinse it a bit and dry with a towel. The day was filled with lots of brunchy foods, eggs galore and fun times all around - I hope everyone enjoyed the day and went to bed stuffed and hoppy :)
